TAALC is very proud of the accomplishments we have made thus far.

We have:

  • Established TAALCTALKS listserv for members with assistance from the Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy and Learning
  • Provided the first Bridges to Practice Training (for teachers of adults with learning disabilities) with a grant through the National Institute for Literacy Training Project
  • Secured reimbursement through the Texas Education Agency for members to attend the 2002 TALAE Conference
  • Worked with Texas Education Agency to provide training through the Adult Literacy Organizational Training Project
  • Joined with Texas LEARNS and TCALL to provide funding for Bridges to Practice Training, Program travel expenses to TAALC Conference and TALAE Conference, development of New Directors Training, support for ProLiteracy Accreditation and local Board training
  • Hosted three annual TAALC Conferences, the latest with over 50 member agencies attending
